A little about Johns mastering journey…
Mastering engineers Melbourne, Australia, John Ruberto
John began mastering at Dex Audio, North Melbourne late 1987 / early 1988, under the guidance of Greg Williams and Daniel Desiere. Other than recording and mixing, Dex had the only full time mastering facility in Melbourne at that time, catering for Cassette, CD and Vinyl preparation (mastering individual tracks to tape which was then sent off to the vinyl plant). John was involved in some recording, mixing and location recording projects however mastering eventually took over during the CD boom. A number of well known mastering engineers originated from there.
In mid 1996 John co-founded Crystal Mastering, where he worked for 17 years, honing in on his own ever changing techniques, methods and sound. The music always playing through those 900S time aligned monitors created by Daniel Desiere.
Later in 2015, Mastersound became Johns new mastering home. All the original gear from Crystal (and more) crossed over here too. Ten years on, the studio has a name change … Xatona Audio. Same awesome analogue gear, same chair, same guy sitting in the chair… new name. Crystal Mastering, Dex Audio, Mastersound
